Member Benefits

Meetings

London Meetings are held at Cavendish Galleries, 7 Princeton Court, 53-55 Felsham Road, London SW15 1AZ.

Occasionally Continental Meetings are held in Belgium at various locations, usually at national events or shows.

We also attend the bi-annual specialist societies’ show MIDPEX, held in Warwickshire, and have a presence at the twice-yearly YORK SHOW.

Meetings normally consist of displays by our members or guests. Other members are encouraged to bring any relevant material from their own collections to support the displays.

Annual Weekend Conference

Our Annual Weekend is held in hotels in various locations in the United Kingdom.  Notifications will be published in Belgapost, on this website and by mail to our members.  In 2016 we held a weekend jointly with the Netherlands Philatelic Circle, and this was repeated in 2017.  Some joint sessions are held as well as individual society meetings.

As part of the programme, members’ competitions will be held for the Churchill Crown and the Barker-Johnson Cup.

All members and their spouses and guests are welcome.  Local members are welcome to attend the sessions and the dinner, and need not stay in the hotel.

Society Library

We probably hold one of the largest specialized philatelic libraries available.  Most books are available on loan to members in the UK only (rare books excepted), normally for a period of four weeks which may be extended if the item is not required by another member.  Scans may be requested and will be supplied within reason.  There is no charge for borrowing but postage costs in both directions will be at the expense of the borrower. The BPSC reserves the right to send titles by any appropriate means which may include registered, signed for or special delivery, depending on current Post Office practice. As a minimum, a Certificate of Postage must be obtained when returning books, and the Librarian must be advised by e-mail or telephone of date of posting within 24 hours of material having been posted for return.

A PDF of the Journal will also be available on our website for members’ convenience.

Auctions usually consists of 300-400 lots of stamps, postal history, ephemera and literature of Belgium. We make every effort to make sure that as many of our members interests as possible are included.

Please note that bidding is only open to members of the Belgian Philatelic Study Circle.
